Nintendo 3DS for $250 in March, Decent Game Releases

The Nintendo 3DS handheld video game system will be released on March 27th, 2011.

According to major sources including Wired.com, the handheld system will be sold starting at $250. The system, although visually similar to the last version of the Nintendo Duel Screen system, has a lot more to offer.

First of all, and most obviously, the system is the first to offer mainstream 3D gaming in a handheld system. The amazing part about the 3DS is that it never requires you to wear special glasses to enjoy the three-dimensional effects. The Nintendo 3DS offers you a wider touchscreen,… Continue reading

Technology: Helping to Make Murderers Famous

Technology helps and it hurts.

When a man pulls a gun, shoots and kills innocent people, and ends up on the cover of TIME magazine within a couple of weeks, something is wrong.

We learn about the incident in full detail, including video footage and interviews from the scene. We learn about the shooter’s motives, down to a YouTube video he posted before the act. We even know details of the MySpace post he made beforehand. All on our cell phones and lap tops and iPads and televisions.

Touchscreen Typing Gets a Makeover with 8pen

If you are one of the millions of smartphone users typing on a tiny, frustrating touchscreen keyboard, the 8pen app might is something you might want to try out. It’s free.

8pen’s creators, as explained in the video below, wondered what would happen if the keyboard was invented today for the purpose of use on a touchscreen smartphone. Because keyboards were designed to fit the size of human hands, the same key layout on a small phone just doesn’t work as well.

8pen is a brand new design of the keyboard with a completely different functionality than any keyboard you… Continue reading

Earn Points for Watching TV with Miso

With Miso, and its $1.5 million in new funding by investors including Google Ventures, you can actually earn points and badges for watching TV. What do you get for these points? Most likely: nothing.

Gamers have been dealing with this for years. We play games and try to gain “Achievement Points,” at least on Xbox, but you really get nothing from it. The points create new challenges, which make the games more fun, but you don’t actually get anything for the points.

I’ve always been waiting, and hoping, that Microsoft might let its Xbox users trade in their hard-earned… Continue reading

Nintendo 3DS is Sick (and Could Make You Sick)

3-dimensional movies and television have become interesting forms of media delivery, but what about 3D video games? At this point, they haven’t really exploded like 3D movies have, but the impending popularity is sure to come.

Video games are all about immersing yourself in a world other than the one you’re living in, taking on the part of another person. By bringing video games into three dimensions, combined with the fact that you are already controlling what happens on the screen, will bring them to another level.

Before major consoles start really pumping out 3-D based games, we will have… Continue reading
